3 questions with….Michael

Michael is part of Greenman since over four years as Manager Equity Capital Markets in the distribution team in Dublin. We would like to find out more about his role and the investment industry he works in, so take a moment to read the interview with Michael, in which he talks about the benefits of working for a company investing in Germany.

Hi Michael, tell us a bit about yourself and how you came to work at Greenman?

I have been working in Finance for the past 10 years since completing my degree in Commerce in UCD and joined Greenman 4 years ago. I had heard about the company and liked how the concept of the fund was easy to understand. I had always wanted to be in a client facing role and working for Greenman gave me that opportunity.

What excites you about the investment industry?

One thing that makes the investment industry exciting is the constantly changing market conditions, as they can be affected by everything from global events to individual company news – consequently every day is different. I have a keen interest in Economics and enjoy seeing how large macro events affect the world as a whole and how these events impact fund performance across all asset classes.

What do you find most interesting about working for a company investing in Germany?

The two countries (Ireland and Germany) are similar in some ways but differ hugely in other aspects, such as the length of commercial lease terms and how leases are indexed in Germany as compared to Ireland. I also love getting the opportunity to gain valuable cross-cultural experience by travelling to Berlin and meet colleagues from different cultures and walks of life. Germany has a rich history and culture, and getting to know the country and its people can be rewarding both personally and professionally.
